A Gentle Music-Based Program to Support Nervous System Regulation
The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is a calming, evidence-based listening program designed to help your nervous system feel safer, more regulated, and more at ease. Through specially filtered music, SSP supports emotional regulation, reduces stress, and promotes a greater sense of connection and well-being.
Developed by neuroscientist Dr. Stephen Porges and based on Polyvagal Theory, SSP works by gently stimulating the vagus nerve—the part of the nervous system responsible for safety, calm, and social connection. As your system shifts out of chronic stress, many people experience increased resilience, emotional balance, and a calmer baseline.
SSP involves five hours of carefully filtered music, paced slowly and tailored to your comfort. Listening sessions can be done in person or remotely with guidance from a trained provider. You can relax, rest, color, stretch, or simply be still while listening.
SSP may be helpful for children, teens, and adults experiencing:
Anxiety, autism, or chronic stress
Emotional or sensory overwhelm
Trauma or PTSD symptoms
Burnout or shutdown
Social, attention, or learning challenges
Many clients report improved calm, better sleep, reduced reactivity, clearer focus, and an increased ability to connect with others.
